STSU 09 11 DAYS LAKE
NAKURU/MAASAI MARA/KAMPALA/GORILLA TREK
Day 1: Samburu National Reserve;
Depart Nairobi in the morning after breakfast for Samburu National
reserve crossing the Equator and driving through changing terrain to
the rugged semi-desert region in the northern Kenya. Though harsh,
it is blessed with species rarely found elsewhere.These species are
: grevy zebra, somali ostrich, gerenuks & baisy oryx. Lunch at Sopa
lodge. Afternoon games drive to search for the stars of Samburu.
Dinner and overnight at Sopa Lodge.
Day 2: Samburu.
Full day in Samburu with game drives .Search for the rare liver red
reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Blue flanked Somali
Ostrich, Vulturine Guinea Fowl, Longneck Gerenuk. See braving lions
on the grass, Cheetah, Leopards among plenty of other plains game.
(Optional visits to Samburu villages). Dinner and overnight at
Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 3: Lake Nakuru National park,
Depart Samburu for Lake Nakuru via Thompson falls with a brief
stover to view the falls. You may have enroute lunch on the way at
Nyahururu. Afternoon game drive at the Pink lake referred so for
it's thousands of pink flamingos and other bird-life-it's a Bird
watchers paradise. It has a surprisingly number of animals, all the
"big five" except the elephant can be seen here. Dinner and
overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge
Day 4: Lake Nakuru/ Maasai Mara;
Morning game viewing at the Pink ,it is rhino sanctuary and a bird
watchers paradise, look for warthogs and water bucks as you leave
the Park. Breakfast at the lodge and depart for Maasai Mara crossing
the loita plains, see red clad Maasai warriors tend their
multi-colored herds amongst plains game. Arrive Mara in time for
lunch. Game viewing enroute to Mara Sarova camp/Mara Sopa Lodge for
lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at a Mara Sarova/Mara
Sopalodge.
Day 5: Maasai Mara;
This is the day your dreams come true about Maasai Mara . Breakfast
at lodge and leave with lunche boxes for a full day game drive
inside the Park. Search for wild game black manned lion for which
Mara is famous for, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, leopard,
grants gazelle are quite common, even the rare rhino might come out
of the thicket for you, hyenas are plentiful, Extend your drive to
the hippo point where schools of hippo submerge on the approach of
vehicles only to surface seconds later to shot and gamble their
displeasure as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths
agape. Between meals there is optional visit to the Maasai villages
for an insight to their culture if clients so wish. Meals and
overnight at aMara Sopa /Mara Sarova lodge.
Day 6: Maasai Mara.
Full day in Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. The
Mara's landscape is scenic savannah grassland on rolling hills,
which enables the reserve to attract sufficient rainfall to maintain
and support a large population of herbivores, together with the
predators that follow. Elephant, lion, buffalo can be seen with
relative ease though luck is a necessary factor for spotting rhino
and leopard that complete the big five as the two animals are very
timid and sparsely numbered. Plains game like wildebeest, zebra and
Masai giraffe abound as well as hippos and a wide variety of
antelopes including impala, dik dik, hartebeest, Grant's gazelle and
Thompson's gazelle among others. Lunch at the hippo pool. Dinner and
overnight Mara Sopa/Mara Sarova.
Day 7: Nairobi-Kampala.
After breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving in time for lunch.
Transfer to the Airport for your flight to Kampala arriving late
evening. Dinner and overnight at Sheraton hotel on Bed & breakfast.
Day 8: Bwindi.
Morning breakfast then take a 5hour road transfer on a very good
road to the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Home to the mountain
Gorillas. In the evening take a Munyaga Trail to explore the
freshness of the forest on a nature walk along the River Munyaga.
Dinner and overnight at Bwindi Tented Camp.
Day 9: Gorilla Trek.
After breakfast report at the Park Offices for a briefing by the
ranger guides prior to the trek to find the Mountain Gorillas with
picnic lunch. The Gorillas are tracked, located and after
approximately one hour with them, return to base for a shower and
cold drink. Dinner and overnight at Bwindi Tented Camp.
Day 10: Lake Bunyonyi-Mbarara.
Travel to Kabale for lunch at the Lake Bunyonyi where you could also
take a canoe ride to explore the many Islands. Later depart for
Mbarara arriving for dinner and night stay at the Agip Motel.
Day 11: Entebbe Airport.
After morning breakfast transfer to Entebbe Airport for your after
noon flight to your next destination.
