STSU 05 Uganda-Rwanda gorilla tour (7 days)
Day 1: Kampala - Kibale Primates Forest
Our safari fguide will pick you from your hotel and drive you to
Fort Portal town which rests in the shadow of the Fabled "Mountains
of the Moon". Enroute, you will have a stopover at Mubende to see
one of the oldest trees in Uganda : the Nakayima Tree, believed to
house the spirits of the Bacwezi. Reaching Fortportal in the
afternoon, relax at the sides of the crater lakes as you prepare for
the wonderful chimpanzee tracking the next day. Dinner and overnight
at Luxury -Ndali safariLodge or Mid range -Rwenzori View Guest House
in Fort portal or Basic -kanyaankyu ecological site preferably in a
Sky Tree House.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Birding
After Break fast, we shall drive to Kibale Forest N/P, for
Chimpanzee tracking and other primate viewing. The activity starts
at 8.00 a.m. in the morning. Through this moist tropical forest, you
are most likely to see various primates which include chimpanzees,
L'hoestes, Black and White Colobuses, Red-Colobuses, Blues,
Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys etc swinging through the dense
forest. Other notable attractions include birds, butterflies and
many small insects .The destination guide will provide you with
interesting and detailed explanations on not only primates, but also
on all the forest's fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both
informative and enjoyable. Afternoon, you will have an excellent
walk for viewing bird life and primates in close quarters. A visit
to Bigodi swamp eco tourism site is amazing, as we shall encounter
rare and birds as well as beautiful flora and fauna. Lunch can be
arranged from Kanyanchu Tourist centre or Fort portal.Dinner and
overnight -Luxury -Ndali safari Lodge or Mid range -Rwenzori View
Guest House in Fort portal or Basic -Sky Tree House.
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth Tour
After early Break fast, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park
following the mystical Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey.
A game drive En route may be rewarded with view of waterbucks,
Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope
species. Arrive earl for lunch at Mweya Safari Lodge. After lunch,
Enjoy the unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into
Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest
concentration of Hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the
water's edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for
photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life
is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species.
Dinner and overnight at Luxury -Mweya Uganda Safari Lodge/Jacana
safari lodge,Hippo camp or Basic -Institute of Ecology.
Day 4: Wildife Tour in Queen Elizabeth NP
After a cup of coffee embark on an early morning game drive along
Kasenyi track and Queens mile in the park and expect to see Lions,
Elephants, cape buffalo, Warthogs, leopard, hyena, mangoose,
waterbucks, Kobs, and lots many small animals and birds. After the
game drive, proceed to Bwindi via Maramagambo and Ishasha sector. As
you drive along the road via Ishasha sector, animals such as the
waterbucks, elephant, antelopes, buffalo, Kobs, can be seen along
the road. Relax around the homestead and sight seeing to visit the
local community-Batwa and enjoy the local traditional dance. Dinner
and overnight at Lake Kitandara tented Camp or basic at Buhoma
community bandas.
DAY 5: Enroute Scenic viewing to Rwanda
Take breakfast before making a scenic journey to Rwanda through the
beautiful terrain of the rolling hills with terraced landscape.
Drive through the winding road and terraced landscape and reach
kisoro for lunch and then drive to Uganda/Rwanda border and cross to
Rwanda. Dinner and overnight at High End Gorilla nest camp / Kinigi
Guest House.
Day 6: Gorilla Tracking
Wake up very early in the morning. You will be early for briefing
before the gorilla trekking starts at 9:00am.After looking
throughthe dark eyes of the few World-remaining gentle giants, drive
to kabale for your dinner and over night.
Day 7: Return Trip to Kampala
After an early breakfast, you will drive to back to Kampala passing
through the rural contry side of Western Uganda. On your drive back
to Kampala, you will have convenient stopovers at the Mpigi Royal
Drum Makers, from where you will be able to watch the ceremonial
drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations
and another stopover at the equator for photographs. Reaching
Kampala by early evenin our safari guide will drop you at your
preffered Kampala hotel or Lodge.
